SMO Media builds management software around the processes you already have: customers, orders, stock and reporting on one system. Data is entered once and used everywhere, instead of each department keeping its own file and the numbers drifting apart.
When a business needs it
Size alone does not mean you need software. The clearest signs are the same data being re-entered in several places, reports taking a whole day to assemble, figures that do not match between departments, or sales having to ring the warehouse before answering a customer.
Three or more of those, and the cost of not having a system already exceeds the cost of building one.
The modules we usually build
- Customers: details, transaction history, who looks after whom
- Orders: from quotation through delivery to payment, with approval steps
- Stock: live goods in, out and on hand, with low-stock alerts
- Purchasing and suppliers: tracking orders placed and money owed
- Reporting: revenue, debt, performance by person and by period
- Permissions: who can see and change what, by department and branch
No business needs all of it at once. We start where things are most stuck.
Why bespoke rather than off the shelf
Off-the-shelf software makes you change your process to fit it. Sometimes that is fine, but if your competitive advantage lies in working differently, forcing yourself into someone else's mould throws that advantage away. Bespoke software also connects to the online shop, accounting package or courier you already use.
Delivered in stages
We build one module, run it for real for a few months, and only then expand. That is easier on the budget and it reduces the biggest risk in software projects: finishing something nobody uses. The people who do the work are involved from the survey stage, rather than having a system handed down to them.
